In the list, again Kerala now became the home to the tallest Shivalingam in the World. The Shivalingam of Chenkal Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple measuring the world record height of 111 feet. The Sivalingam with 111 feet height covers 65 sq feet and 7 storeys.

The temple is renovated recently and is opened during Maha Sivaratri celebrations. The construction of Shivalingam began long back in 2012 and it took almost 6-7 years to complete.

Many millions of money and man effort contributed in construction and finally their efforts paid OFF. It was not much easier to accumulate the construction materials and funds, but it was only with support of many well-wishers which made this almost impossible mission possible.

Main highlights of the temple

The Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple is located on a very remote village in Trivandrum. The temple is situated near Neyyattinkara and is known for its principles, religious rituals, “Parihara Kriyas” and solutions. People from far and near visit this temple from ancient times to solve their problems. Now the architecture of Shivalingam has placed its name in the cultural map of temples in the World. The Sivalingam at Chenkal Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple broke the world record of highest Sivalingam in the World, previously held by Kotilingeshwara Temple in Karnataka. The Kotilingeshwara Temple as measuring the height of 108 feet which was the world record, which was broken by Chenkal Mahadeva Sri Sivaparvathi Temple with the new world record height of 111 feet.

The Sivalingam is constructed in six storeys – basis of 6 chakras or energy sensors of the human body – Muladhara, Manipura, Vishuddha, Swadishtana, Anahata and Ajna. The temple is about 5000 years old and has 32 different forms of Lord Ganapati – ranging from Balaganapati to Yoga Ganapati (Meditating Ganesa). Unique Poojas are conducted for all the 32 forms of Ganesa. Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple is the only temple in the word where devotees call worship all Jyothirlingam of Maheswaran and 32 forms of Maha Ganesa at a single stance.

The holy water soil and the construction materials were brought from Kasi, Rameswaram, Badrinath, Gomukh, Dhanushkodi and Kailasam and the entire construction was based on Vasthu Shastra. The temple is constructed entirely out of Krishna stone and wood and based on the principles of traditional architecture.

Spaces for Meditation

The spaces for Meditation is arranged based on certain principles and about 50 devotees can sit and pray in each floor. One of the major highlights in construction is the usage of Krishna stone which give very cool atmosphere inside the Meditation rooms.

The beauty of Mahasivalingam Interior

The Sivalingam is located in the north-east direction of the temple. The Sivalingam is built on Panchabhuta principles and the Soil and water brought from the holy places all over the country. We’ll get a feeling like entering into a cave while we enter inside the Sivalingam. The top most portion of the Sivalingam is Kailasa Sankalpam. When you reach there, it’s like you travel through different experiences and finally you achieve Moksha.  Due to the unique construction method, even during Summer months a chillness of cool air resembles inside the Sivalingam.

Charity Activities

The temple is also engaged in several charity and social activities. The temple offers financial help for books and study materials for poor children.

Kerala is the best place for the people who are attracted to spiritualism. One can experience the real meaning of spiritualism by visiting the famous temples in and around Kerala. Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple is surely the best one among them..

Keep close to nature's heart, break clear away once in a while and wash your spirit clean! I’m not a writer, but just thought of writing a few lines with some pictures taken using my old phone of a trip that I had to Mankulam, near Munnar. It was the best trip that I had ever. This essay does not even provide 1% of the fun, enjoyment & blast we had in this trip but is merely the details of the trip. We were a team of about 35 members. The route was Trivandrum – Pattanamthitta – Pala – Thodupuzha -Mankulam. The destination was bout 285 kms from Trivandrum. Mankulam is a renowned organic village. On the northern side picturesque tea gardens wait for visitors. We reached SNOW LAVENDER RESORT at 6am. After having breakfast, we were ready to spend a good, long part of the day in exploring the forest and the caves and soaking in the best of what the nature has to offer. Our team hired a few Jeeps for trekking and we set off into the
