The temple is renovated recently and is opened during Maha Sivaratri celebrations. The construction of Shivalingam began long back in 2012 and it took almost 6-7 years to complete.

Many millions of money and man effort contributed in construction and finally their efforts paid OFF. It was not much easier to accumulate the construction materials and funds, but it was only with support of many well-wishers which made this almost impossible mission possible.

Main highlights of the temple

The Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple is located on a very remote village in Trivandrum. The temple is situated near Neyyattinkara and is known for its principles, religious rituals, “Parihara Kriyas” and solutions. People from far and near visit this temple from ancient times to solve their problems. Now the architecture of Shivalingam has placed its name in the cultural map of temples in the World. The Kotilingeshwara Temple as measuring the height of 108 feet which was the world record, which was broken by Chenkal Mahadeva Sri Sivaparvathi Temple with the new world record height of 111 feet.

The Sivalingam is constructed in six storeys – basis of 6 chakras or energy sensors of the human body – Muladhara, Manipura, Vishuddha, Swadishtana, Anahata and Ajna. The temple is about 5000 years old and has 32 different forms of Lord Ganapati – ranging from Balaganapati to Yoga Ganapati (Meditating Ganesa). Unique Poojas are conducted for all the 32 forms of Ganesa. Maheswaram Sri Sivaparvathi Temple is the only temple in the word where devotees call worship all Jyothirlingam of Maheswaran and 32 forms of Maha Ganesa at a single stance.

The holy water soil and the construction materials were brought from Kasi, Rameswaram, Badrinath, Gomukh, Dhanushkodi and Kailasam and the entire construction was based on Vasthu Shastra. The temple is constructed entirely out of Krishna stone and wood and based on the principles of traditional architecture.

Spaces for Meditation

The spaces for Meditation is arranged based on certain principles and about 50 devotees can sit and pray in each floor. One of the major highlights in construction is the usage of Krishna stone which give very cool atmosphere inside the Meditation rooms.

We’ll get a feeling like entering into a cave while we enter inside the Sivalingam. The top most portion of the Sivalingam is Kailasa Sankalpam. When you reach there, it’s like you travel through different experiences and finally you achieve Moksha.  Due to the unique construction method, even during Summer months a chillness of cool air resembles inside the Sivalingam.

Travel and Tourism hit by Covid-19, Kerala beckons revival!

For a population that has been under strict lockdown for the past 3 months, the urge to travel remains high on priority. When the novel Coronavirus struck, countries began shutting down borders and the last of the tourists hurriedly packed their bags, uncertain of what lay ahead. Within just a few days, several bookings that had been made by both foreign and domestic tourists got cancelled. With the lockdown falling into place soon after, the travel circuit came to a staggering halt. During April and May, we usually get tourists from the north Indian states as a result of the school holidays. That season has been completely washed away. It’s zero revenue this year. Stories of financial upheaval are unprecedented in the travel and tourism sector in Kerala, which contributes 10% of the state’s GDP and employs nearly 20 lakh people directly or indirectly. While other non-essential industries have begun to restart with restricted workforce, tourism naturally has been the hardest-hit and ma...

The haunting story – Bonacaud Bungalow!

Bonacaud is known for its breathtaking beauty. Bonacaud was once a majestic tea estate set up by the British right below the Agasthya mountain ranges in Trivandrum.  Bonacaud is very close to Ponmudi hills, taking a deviation at the Theviyode Junction, takes you to Bonacaud. The road forward is fairly rough. Be careful as you drive along this winding road because coming across wildlife is a common occurrence. As you go on, you might get to see the Peppara Dam in all its grandeur. Getting a good glimpse however is rare as the area is almost always shrouded in a thick layer of mist. The plush green mountain ranges move past your windows and the buildings in the Bonacaud estate stand grimly in the distance. The journey started with one of my close friends, Rajesh and his wonderful team of colleagues.  Trekking expeditions are quite common in this area and quite a few groups arrive every day to explore the factory ruins and the famous, haunt...
