My great day at Ponmudi - The Golden peak

Ponmudi – The Golden peak is located in the God’s own country, Kerala. The hill station is just 50 kms away from the city center, Thiruvananthapuram.

We all connected and networked all through our life.

I was just trying to break it out and welcome the nature with vast arms where silence greets you and you are cut off from the world. 

I just did that and got away for a Sunday, a retreating into the hills, running away from the urban civilization with my family.

We felt a change immediately after we passed Kallar. The ride has turned out to be a smooth one and quickly we were inside the forest area. The roads were curvy but it was fantastic and I was really enjoying the drive. 

It was a thrilling experience to navigate all 22 Hairpin curves.

The major picnic spot on the way to Ponmudi is the Meenmutti waterfalls. Have to trek 1km through the dense forest to reach the awesome waterfalls.

We were really enjoying the climb through the thick forest. 

Once we were out of the car we could really enjoy the sound of the mother nature.

Just get down into the water and look around, it's fantastic. 

The sight of pure water around the rocks is just awesome. 

Sit on the rocks and keep your legs in water and nature will give you the best treat.

My kids were also enjoying the place with fun amidst the nature. (PS - Some of the snaps were captured from my Android, hence the quality is not up)

We may feel to spend the whole day there relaxing without going to the peak. It was really overwhelming. 

We carried our food since no hotels are available once we enter the forest area, so we parked our vehicle on a pretty scenic location.

The hilly roads were gorgeous as we continued miles towards the golden peak. The hairpin bends thoughout the drive was a pleasure.

Surprisingly there were hardly few vehicles soon we reached the point. 

The clouds cover was just spectacular and the scene got better as we trekked higher. Gratuitous to say, it was a mind-blowing visual treat when we reached the edge of the hill.

The nerve like appearance of the covered cloud was increasing. The sight we enjoyed meticulously when the cloud began to come near us.

I enjoyed driving the car very slowly to add flavor to the experience during our return journey. 

We all felt like we are back from the paradise. Next time I will be prepared to stay here, then only it can be enjoyed it to the maximum. KSRTC also operates buses from their Central bus stand of Thiruvananthapuram.
